Overview
I am Associate Professor in Physical Computing at the University College London. I am part of the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Science and the Faculty of Brain Sciences. At the UCL Interaction Centre I work on projects in the research areas of ubiquitous computing, cross-device interaction, interactive surfaces, sensor-based systems, prototyping toolkits and physical user interfaces. I am co-author of the Sketching User Experiences Workbook (Morgan Kaufmann 2011) and Proxemic Interactions textbook (Morgan & Claypool 2015). Our research is funded by Microsoft, Intel, BBC and EPSRC.
I received my PhD in Computer Science from the University of Calgary in Canada. During my graduate studies I was working at the Interactions Lab and GroupLab with Saul Greenberg.
In 2011/2012 I interned at Microsoft Research Redmond working with Ken Hinckley at the Natual User Interactions group. I previously worked with Alex Taylor, Abigail Sellen, Richard Banks, and Nicolas Villar from Microsoft Research Cambridge as an intern in 2006 and 2008.
